Oregon State vs Washington Recap, Game 1

The Beavers defeated the Huskies at Safeco Field on Friday night, by a final score of 6-4. Oregon State improved to 29-12 and 12-7 in conference play. Washington fell to 21-24 and 10-9 in conference play. Tanner Robles pitched beautifully for the Beavers, going 6.1 innings and only giving up two hits. The Beavers best offensive player of the night was Stephen Romero. He had three RBI's and two hits.

The Beavers got things started in the second inning with one run to take a 1-0 lead. Oregon State added another run in the fifth inning on a Adalberto Santos RBI base hit off the pitcher's glove. In the sixth inning Oregon State added four more runs and took a 6-0 lead. Oregon State let the Huskies back in it in the 8th inning giving up four runs to make the score, 6-4. Kevin Rhoderick came in to get the save for the Beavers in the 8th and ninth innings. He pitched 1.1 innings and gave up one hit. He also had two strikeouts.

The time of game was 3 hours and 30 minutes and the attendance was 4,295.

On Saturday the Beavers and Huskies will meet at Husky Ballpark for the second game of the series at 2:00 PM.

The weather calls for Sunny and 65 degrees tommorrow in Seattle. It should be a great day for some Pac-10 Baseball.

Totally agree!

I will say that Rhoderick deserves some credit too. It wasn’t the most flashy of saves but the momentum was very much going to UW in the eighth and he came in and took care of that and then took care of business in the ninth.

But Robles was awesome last night.

Oh, and Romero’s triple was big time too!
