Baseball Open Thread: vs. Arizona State, Game 2
The Spring Game is in the books, so it's time to move our attention to Goss Stadium, where the Beavers will be trying to put a win together today to give themselves a shot at winning the series tomorrow.
Right-hander Greg Peavey (3-2, 3.93) will be on the mound for the Beavers. Josh Spence is the usual Saturday starter for the Sun Devils, but he won't play because of a hand injury. Mitchell Lambson or Matt Newman will likely get the start.... we'll keep our eye on that.
First pitch scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Spring Game Thoughts
I thought this year’s Spring Game was pretty good. We got through it with only one injury and hopefully it proves not very serious. Our best running back today was Jovan Stevenson who ran for 40 yards. Our best quarterback today was Peter Lalich. He threw for 214 yards and 2 touchdowns. Our best reciever was Jordan Bishop. He had 5 catches for 95 yards and 1 touchdown.

Just got back from the game
Quick thoughts:
Relief pitching won this game really, Peavey did not look that sharp, but the pitchers coming in (especially Gorton) were awesome.
Wallace’s two catches were incredible, balls were hanging in the wind but that catch to rob the HR was sweet, but not as good as his diving catch and then doubling the runner up.
Offense came through and showed some life, although sure did leave the fans frustrated at times, but you know ASU left as many too and really it was an excellent defensive/pitching dual tonight, except for:
That ball that dropped between Wallace and Miller was catchable, but oh the ironies of irony and that ball the Beavs won the game on was also catchable.
But again the Beavs had some aggressive bats at the right times tonight against a very good team.
A little surprised by the lack of turn out though, don’t know maybe it was the weather but it turned out okay enough (cold in right field though) so surprised to see so many empty seats.
Tomorrow’s game could be intense, there was a good amount of talking going on tonight especially towards the end. Someone from ASU’s bullpen was giving Miller and Wallace a ton of grief about the ball they let drop and I noticed some of the fans were starting to really trash talk the ASU bench after the game. Should be a good one! Wish I could go again!
