Spring Game Open Thread

I won't be near my computer for much of this morning, but here is the place for you to chat about the Spring Game. The game kicks off at 12:00 at Reser Stadium. You can watch on Beaver Nation Online, or tune into the radio broadcast on 860 KPAM in the Portland area.

Here are some of my thoughts on the game:

  1. Sean Canfield needs a strong showing to jumpstart his summer. We need someone to step up and show us something at quarterback, and with Lyle Moevao sidelined, Canfield has a chance to do that today. We all know that Coach Riley isn't going to go to a two quarterback system, so could somebody just win this battle, already? I think both are great quarterbacks and great leaders who can win games in the Pac-10, one of them just needs to step up.
  2. Receivers vs. Secondary. It's been something we've been watching all Spring. In the first scrimmage, the offense dominated the defense. But it was practically the other way around in the second scrimmage. What sort of game are we going to see from the secondary today, with a little added pressure? What will Darrell Catchings look like? Will any of the young receivers step up, and will any younger members of the secondary step up? All questions that should be answered in today's scrimmage.
  3. Offensive Line: I'm interested to see what Coach Cav's group looks like. It seems like there is more depth here this year, but I'm not sure if there is more talent. Andy Levitre and Tavita Thompson are gone, in addition to Adam Speer... can guys like Remmers, Peat, Pohl and Oshinowo pick up where those guys left off?
  4. What has Ryan McCants done to get better? With Quizz on the sideline, we'll get to see a lot of McCants today, I'm thinking. I hope he was able to add some speed so far this offseason, because it could go along way to getting him more carries in relief of Quizz, who is going to take a beating this year.

Who needs to make the biggest impression in today's game? Who are you looking to blow us away? Anything is fair game in the thread below.

PS: If anyone will be in attendance at the game, it would be awesome if you could take some mental notes and FanPost your thoughts of the game. We'd love to hear them.

Jovan Stevenson will get the start today.

I think Sean Canfield needs to make the biggest impression today. He can make a very good case for the number 1 spot come September if he plays well. Also, the Spring Game is supposed to be fun and when the QB is on it usually is.

Rough day for Canfield sounds like

I support Takimoto in his effort to support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

Sounds like all in all a decent scrimmage

Canfield had a rough time, but at least it’s good to see the defense making some plays. I hope Oshinowo is alright, sounded like a tough knee injury.

I didn't stay long enough to write up a report

but I loved what I saw from Jordan Bishop, the kid is going to be stud for us. Katz has a cannon. Mitchell looks like he will be a pretty good safety.

It was kind of hard to gauge Canfield because the weather was pretty crappy.

Not going to be that much better in late October and into November!

You going to write a fanpost anyway?

I’d be interested from you or anyone posting something from the game. Not sure how to read the Canfield performance and the game all together since it is only the spring game, so would like to hear from people (I know there were some postings about it in the baseball game thread, but fanposts would be fun).
