Oregon State vs Washington State Recap, Game 2

The Beavers defeated the Cougars at Goss Stadium on Saturday, winning by a final score of 8-2. Sam Gaviglio pitched amazingly for the Beavers, going 7.2 innings and only giving up two runs. Sam also gave up four hits and had four strikeouts. Now let's take a look at the game.

The Beavers got things going in the first inning with one run to take a 1-0 lead. In the top half of the second inning the Cougars tied the game up with a run, but the Beavers broke the tie with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The game remained scoreless after that until the fifth inning when the Cougars tied the game up at two with another run. The Beavers broke the tie in the bottom half of the inning on a Cougar throwing error, and the Beavers lead again, 3-2. In the sixth inning the Beavers got five runs to break the game open, including a two-run single to cap off the huge inning. In the eighth inning, Oregon State brought in Kraig Sitton to get the final out and to close the game for the Beavers in the ninth.

The time of game was 2 hours and 50 minutes and the attendance was 3,075.

The Beavers and Cougars will meet one more time on Sunday at 1:00 PM. It will be Senior Day at Goss Stadium so hopefully Beaver Nation will send them off with a win.

The weatehr for Sunday calls for nothing but Sunshine. It should be a great day for Baseball in Corvallis.

                                                                                   Go Beavs!

Gaviglio

Is he really now 8-1 for the year? Wow, that is one quiet but awesome win/loss record.
