Oregon State vs Gonzaga Recap, Game 1

PrintThe Beavers defeated the Bulldogs at Goss Stadium on Tuesday night, by a final score of 8-1. Oregon State improved to 30-14 on the season, and Gonzaga fell to 30-15. Tyler Waldron pitched a complete game and only gave up two hits and one run. He also had eight strikeouts. Now let's take a look at the game.
The Beavers had the bases loaded in the first inning with only one out, but they could only get one run to make the score 1-0. Gonzaga tied the game in the sixth inning, but Oregon State answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 2-1. The game stayed that way until the 8th inning when the Beavers broke it open with six runs. The Beavers had nobody on with two outs when they started one of the best rallies of the year. They got two runners on and then Carter Bell hit a three run homer to make the score 5-1. After Gonzaga made a pitching change, the Beavers loaded the bases and then got a bases clearing double from Brent Warren to make the score 8-1.
The time of game was 3 hours and the attendance was 1,575.
The Beavers and Bulldogs will meet again on Wednesday at 1:00 PM.
The weather for Wednesday calls for Showers and 55 degrees. It should be a cold one in Corvallis but they should be able to get the game in.

It was a good bounce back game for Waldron
but Robles was damn near perfect in his game at washington. I can see Waldron being the first pitcher for our middle relief or taking over early if Peavy or Reyes are having a bad outing. its nice to have 4 good starting pitchers

Go figure
BYU beats UW yesterday.
I’ve been feeling a little cranky at the scheduling gods about getting USC , UCLA, UW when they had things going, but will have to say we seemed to have got Cal at the right time earlier this season since the Arizona series that they swept in they have been playing well and bit more dangerous of late.
