Baseball Open Thread: vs. USC, Game 2

This one is almost a must win for the Beavers... the pitching matchup:

RHP Greg Peavey (3-2, 4.23) vs. RHP Andrew Triggs (3-1, 4.29)

I'm headed down to Corvallis again to watch Game two of the series. Hope to see a lot of Beaver Nation there. Like yesterday, if you'll be on your computer during the game, feel free to post in the comment section and check out my Twitter feed.

Hate to get melodramatic

But I think this game is going to show us a lot about what this team is made of this year.

Tough Pac-10 series, with a big home crowd expected, and just got off a tough loss in a tense game at times.

Of course Sunday is going to be important as hell too, but this is the type of game the team needs to bounce back from the last one and send a message. They have done a great job at bouncing back all year and I expect nothing less, but USC is playing some inspired ball right now and is a competitive team for the Beavs.

Very disappointing

Needed this series in a big way in order to make a strong run at the Pac-10. It doesn’t destroy our chances but going to be all that much harder to overtake ASU losing this series.

Need to win the last one for sure now to keep the record in single digits for losses and hopefully ranked still so when the team rights the ship this series loss doesn’t hurt the post season placement for the Beavs.

Man, the Beavs had their chances to get the runs needed to win this one and all that timely hitting we were talking about just left the team so far in this series. Need to get Santos back on track.

Wow

Tough loss for the Beavers. USC just seems to have our number in Baseball.

No kidding for the last couple years!

I did a quick look up and looks like the Beavs have now last took SC in a series back in 2007 and had to go extra innings in the last game to do it, and then took a series in 2005. Since 2003 SC has won 4 series and OSU 3 series. Been actually a pretty good series over the last few years when you think about it. Maybe it all does bode well (if we don’t get swept like last year!) since SC took the series in 2006 and look what the team did that year.

Sigh, I’m looking for anything after these two losses!

Let’s just get Santos hitting again!

If the Beavs want the Pac-10 this year

Going to have to crank it up a notch or two. We still have a good chance with hosting both ASU and WSU, but USC is creeping there and need to take care of UCLA and Stanford on the road who are also creeping. Took care of the bottom half already (except for UW) and this is now the run for the Pac and maybe the chances to go to Omaha again (I think post season will be there this year but need to get up in the standings to host which I think will go a long way this year).

Yep, this is really now the time to step up to the plate and start getting that punch they had earlier this season. Starting today with the last game against SC.
