Pape Grand Slam and Women's Basketball Open Thread

Two big games going on today for Beaver Nation.... the baseball team is taking on Missouri State in Game 1 of the Pape Grand Slam, and the Women's team is taking on UCLA in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Tournament.

Here's the place to talk about either one... the first pitch of the baseball game is scheduled for 6:00 PM at PGE Park, and the basketball game is set to tip off at 7:15 in Los Angeles. You can watch that one live on the Pac-10 website.

I'm heading down to PGE Park for the game. If you'll be listening, feel free to chat in the comment thread. I'll read through your thoughts when I get home, and add my own thoughts (and pictures, maybe) from the ballpark.

GO BEAVERS!

Great win for the Beavers

By no means will it be easy but if we can get a sweep this weekend, our schedule before conference play looks very favorable. After this we’ve got 2 games against Utah Valley State and Saint Mary’s, and then 1 game with Hawaii. All of these games are very winnable and we could be in the Top 15 before we start conference play against Oregon.

Great to see Ortiz come through

Ryan has been off this season so big game last night for him.

Overall a weird game if you think about it. Looked like a loss at times and gave up a lot of hits. But then looked a bit like we should have won much easier against a team that also gave up a bunch of hits and had four errors (I think it ended up four for them). But it was an exciting game nonetheless and yes an excellent win again by the Beavs. Yes I agree if we can take this series, or especially a sweep, this puts us in very good standing right now. So far the three losses the team has were against good to very good teams and those games were pretty well played overall even in losing.
