Battle of the 1,600’s Brewing
When the Oregon St. men's basketball team defeated Fresno St. 73-65 two nights before Christmas, it was a major milestone, not just for the program, but for hoops in the Northwest, as the Beavers became just the 15th. program in history to reach the 1,600 win mark.
Two nights after Christmas, the Washington Huskies defeated San Francisco 86-71. That made the program on the shores of Montlake the 16th. to reach that same 1,600 victory milepost.

New Years' eve, at 7 PM, the tie for 15th. on the all-time win list will be broken, since, as fate would have it, the Beavers and Huskies just happen to be meeting at the Bank of America Arena, better known as Hec Edmundson Pavillion. Fox Sports Northwest will televise the historic game that serves as the kickoff to the Pac-10 season for both teams.
Note from Jake: A complete game preview will be posted late tonight. Stop by in the morning to check it out. Also, take a peek at my non-conference recap that you'll find below for more reading material.
