MAACO Bowl Second Half Open Thread: OSU vs. BYU

The first half didn't go as planned. Will the second half be any better?

The Beaver defense looked like it was up to the challenge of stopping Max Hall and company on BYU's opening two possessions, but the tide quickly turned. The wind has really been having an affect on Sean Canfield, as he hasn't been his normal self (3/12 at last check).

I won't be able to update this post with score updates as frequently, so head to the thread and join the conversation to see how the game is going. I'll be back in full form sometime after the end of the game.

I won’t leave you hanging. I’m with you.

He can run, he can pass, he is sicker than e-coli. Jeremiah always keeps things rolling.

I haven’t seen VD in here…do you know if he’s at the game?

He hasn't replied to a text in three weeks and deleted his Facebook.

The only thing I know about his current situation is that he probably has blue balls.

Haha. That’s a pretty safe bet. He was posting on here yesterday.

It will be interesting to see what BYU does.

If we take the ball first, will they take the wind in the 3rd., and try to put the game away, or save the wind for the 4th. qtr.?

We could be going into the wind in the 3rd. qtr. too.

I think I hope the Beavers have the wind in the 4th quarter. I think if they are going to come back, they’ll need the wind in the 4th quarter. They’ll just have to buckle down and grind it out in the 3rd.

Or, they have to get back in it using the wind in the 3rd quarter.

If I were the Beavers I would rather awaken in the 3rd and, if that serves to bring the game back close, hope that carries over to the 4th.

OK. Time to change something up. I’ve been on BtD the whole game except for the lone Beaver TD. I’m going to change it up for good luck and spend the 2nd half out of BtD. Go Beavs!

We are going into the wind again...

and BYU is 74-0 when leading by 14 or more at halftime!

Props to BYU

for coming in prepared.

What is especially disappointing is not getting beat, but that since the second drive, we have looked totally unprepared, and have not played sound fundamental football.

And we expect to go to Dallas and Boise in September with basically the same unit to play BCS bowl teams!

I’d hate to see a wind storm screw over his final game as a beaver…

if anything

your comment might be an indictment on the Ducks’ talent level as well as one on OSU’s. Considering how even the Civil War was…

I don’t think that this game says anything about talent. When you are 1 game from playing in the Rose Bowl it’s got to be hard to get excited to play in the Las Vegas Bowl. The same type of thing happened to the Ducks in 2006, against BYU, in the same bowl game.

Yep. I seriously doubt that there is a point other than to piss you guys off. It’s ironic to me because I hear so many of my fellow Duck fans say they hate the fuskies because of how classless they are, then I see stupid stuff like this and I can only shake my head.

It is discouraging to not be able to move the ball.

Got the wind now. One big play by a Rogers brother and you just never know. BYU hasn’t had to deal with that wind for a LONG time and they could get in that mode where they can’t move the ball.

in the same place, against the same team!

Oregon didn't score until about 4 minutes left in that game, though.

On a fluke bomb thrown by a young Dennis Dixon. We also had an ugly ass look for that game.

And now both James and Quizz have fumbled,

leading directly to BYU TDs. Wonder how much one would take out of Vegas with a bet on that? Or taking BYU -28!

tieing Steven Jackson’s single season scoring record.

However, Kahut’s kick is kaput, and it is still a 24 point margin.

getting a chance to show his arm, and two long catches produces a TD to Adeniji.

At least something good has come out of the end of this.

I believe OSU suffered from what they call a “letdown game”.

also, i see why nobody likes BYU, their sideline during the 4th was just ridiculous… totally classless by them
