Around SBN: The Worst Team Ever Projected?

Wednesday Links (no sausage pics this time)

A few random links to kick off Hump Day...

-Beaver round ball is getting some more love from ESPN. See this link as well as the shot of the current cover page of college hoops (below).

I think the article only has one or two Michelle-Obama's-Brother references, which is a step in the right direction.

-Cal preview from CBS Sports... in a shocker, both teams say positive things about each other while the reporter talks about how important this game is for both teams. I really hope the Beavs are hungry because this is a must win, linchpin-for-the-season kind of game here and it will take MUCH more than a UCLA-esque effort.

-Schaftenaar stayed in Corvallis for the summer and pumped iron. Dude packed on 20 more pounds of pure Dutch muscle. Should be a bigger presence in the post. I wonder how pissed Jay John is that Roeland's suddenly a beast.

-Buker says Beavers are "standing on the intersection of 'average' and 'outstanding'"... "outstanding"? I'd like to think we're at the intersection of 'average' and 'pretty good'... I mean, it's not like a win at Cal is going to lock up a spot in the national title game. THAT would be an "outstanding" outcome for this team but hey, if we don't let teams like SC, UA and Cinci off the hook, MAYBE we're talking about an "outstanding" year. So far though, pretty good.

-Canfield and Quizz are each having impressive seasons. Wilner pegs Quizz as the top back in the conference. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

That's all for now folks. Post what you find in the comments and have a good one. GO BEAVERS

Poll
What unit needs to step up the most to ensure a win at Cal?
D-Line: Get in Riley's face early and often. Kids from Beaverton scare easily.
33 votes
Receivers: Nichols, Wheaton and Adeniji need to step up and help James shoulder the load. Oh, and a heavy dose of HALAHUNI!
2 votes
Run game: Quizz and the OL need to be in perfect sync. If Quizz passes 100 yds we're golden.

Secondary: How about a pick or-dare I say it-defensive score?
23 votes
Special Teams: This unit will have to do what it did against Cal last year, only without Sammie. Poyer, anyone?
1 votes
LBs: Neutralize Best as a long run threat. Make Tedford spike his clipboard and headset again.

On the poll question

I checked “other”. I think they are all good points, but I think if they perform at least as good in those areas as they did in the last 3 games, they will be in a position to win. (Sorry about the run-on) I think the biggest concern is discipline. If the Beav’s can eliminate all of the 10 penalties for 78 yards, they will be able to score TD’s instead of Field Goals.

For you Beaver fans: On a scale of 1-10, how enjoyable was watching Tedford spike his clipboard?

Ha ha!

I’d say 8 or 9. I remember that more than most of the big plays from that game. :)

I'd say it was a six or seven.

Kind’ve like icing on the upset-cake.

It was cool, but it doesn’t compare to running off the field with the ball as time runs out.

Hi, my name is Connor. Except over on ATQ where I am known as, "JConnor."
