Bowl projection assistance requested

Can someone help me out?

If the Beavers win the Civil War, then the Beavers go to the Rose Bowl and the Ducks go to the Holiday Bowl.

If the Ducks win the Civil War, then the Ducks go to the Rose Bowl and the Beavers go to ???? Is there a scenario where the Beavers end up in the Holiday Bowl? Or if the Beavers lose the Civil War, they end up in the Las Vegas Bowl?

What are the determining factors? Should we be rooting for ASU to beat Arizona and UCLA to beat USC? Could the USC/Arizona game have an impact? Does the Holiday Bowl get to choose whomever they want after the Rose Bowl?

if there is a tie, the bowls get to choose. Ted Miller on ESPN has the Beavs going to the Vegas Bowl in that scenario getting bypassed for more “attractive” teams due to travel reasons i think. Root for USC to lose as always is the moral to the story.

I could be wrong, but I believe the following holds true

To get to the Holiday Bowl
- root against Cal so they don’t have a better record than the beavs overall
- USC and Arizona both need to lose another game

the tiebreakers don’t work well for the Beavs if one of those teams wins out. I think your best bet is to root for Arizona over USC this weekend and then have USC beat UCLA. Then hope that ASU can pull out the win against Arizona State

I didn't know ASU was playing Arizona State.

How does that work in the standings?

Power Rankings according to dvieira:

Arizona State @ #3

ASU @ #7

!!!

I would actually have: Arizona State @ #4 and ASU @ #8

I'm taking the all or nothing route

We need to win and then no issues on which bowl we go to. Lose (and here’s where I disagree with Andy Panda’s assessment that losing the CW game doesn’t necessarily mean a ruined season), and looks as most likely playing in a bowl beneath this team and its performance this year.

If by chance a Holiday Bowl is in the works I’m not as much a negative Nancy about it all, but Emerald or Vegas bowl would be a disappointment (even the Sun Bowl would be disappointing if they decided to overlook the normal procedure they have with no repeats).

Stanford losing

probably helped the Beavs quite a bit—if they lose the CW they remain tied for 2nd rather than tied for 3rd.

But still—if the Beavs lose the CW and the Holiday Bowl passes us up for a California school (the Holiday Bowl committee seems to not want OSU to come to San Diego), it’s probably the Emerald or Vegas bowls. USC might not be a good Holiday Bowl choice—its close enough to drive for most fans, so the hotels won’t fill as much—but either bay area school might be more attractive.

OTOH, if we WIN the civil war, the *ucks probably drop to the Sun Bowl, as they played in SD last year.
