Pac-10 Suspends Referee for Non-Facemask Call
via Ted Miller:
"Our members expect a high level of officiating in all our sports and the Conference office shares that expectation," Scott said in a statement. "We have taken this action in light of the blatant and dangerous nature of the missed call. We have full confidence in our highly trained and qualified staff of football officials, but they, like the coaches and players, are accountable and must meet the high expectations placed upon them."

Thank God
That was one of the most dangerous plays I’ve ever seen
I support Takimoto in his effort to support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

What disturbs me most about this play is that people like Ken Goe keep referring to the play as a “hit” that “dislodged” Rodgers’ helmet.
The guy grabbed his face mask and held on tight, ripping it off his head in a pretty violent fashion. I doubt Mays did this on purpose but it was still pretty reckless. This was a clothesline style tackle on a guy who caught the ball in the end zone. End of story. Touchdown, Beavers. Reaching out the way he did is just a dumb move that accomplishes nothing.
Hopefully he learns to to cut down on these questionable plays.
Hopefully the rest of the team will follow suit as well. There were a few other instances of uncalled face masking. The play on Kjos was pretty bad/dangerous as well. I just always see them tackling so high (horse collar and helmet tackles mainly) so frequently. It just seems lazy, not exactly malicious… but regardless, here’s photo evidence to make us all feel better.

Pete Carroll calls a defensive play into Mays during Saturday’s game.

Can’t remember exactly, but I don’t think Quizz took off is own helmet…

Bizarro helmet contact!

Mays demonstrating a perfect horse collar technique. James Rodgers demonstrating a TD run.
Maybe we had it coming?

OK, I’m just going to shut up and party, because that’s what Matt wants.

You didn't think it was on purpose?
It sure looked like that to me.

It kind of looked like it...
Mays clotheslined James, and when he was on the ground, grabbed the bottom of his facemask and took it with him on his way past. Ouch.

I don't like Mays or SC's style of high tackling and grabbing at the head, but...
…I also think he was just reckless and grabbing at whatever he could get his hands on. That doesn’t necessarily excuse the fact that he tore the kid’s head off in what amounts to a pretty dangerous and unnecessary play.
Watching the replay is strange. I mean, how does a flag not come out on that? Really?
