Stanford Cardinal at Oregon St. Beavers, Oct 10, 2009 4:00 PM PDT

Oregon State vs. Stanford - 4 p.m. - Fox Sports Northwest

It's a big day for Oregon State, as they'll try to prove they belong in the upper echelon of the Pac-10 against what has become a very talented Stanford Cardinal team. If Stanford wins, they're going to do it on the ground, and if Oregon State wins, they're going to do it on the ground also-- so this could easily become Toby Gerhart vs. Jacquizz Rodgers. Gerhart has the advantage with his offensive line however, which means two things: it's up to Oregon State's front seven to handle Stanford's big boys up front, and it's up to Oregon State's offensive line to open something resembling a running lane for Quizz.

Nice win Beavs!

Wow, what a first half. I think Quizz was frustrated by the previous three games. The O-line got the message. Interesting comment by Riley after the game about his quarterback playing great except for the fourth quarter. Riley’s usually not critical at all in public. Wonder what he felt Canfield did? I’m not sure the sacks were his fault this time. Also, was the punt return that was a safety not “challengable”? I think you have to challenge on that as a call in the Beavs favor seals the game.

I thought that they were for sure going to review that if not have Riley challenge it. I don’t know the official rules on all that though.

P-10 Officials

Yeah, you’ve got to love the P-10 review booth. What were they doing…heading to their cars? Remember the 2007 Huskies game and Bernard’s “fumble”?
I was told it was reviewable as it would determine where to place the football after the tackle. I think forward progress is hard to reverse if that’s what the officials were thinking.
I also think the coaching staff had a little bit of brain lock because at that point in the game there was no downside to a challenge(you don’t really need the timeout if you lose the challenge). Someone else pointed out that Riley didn’t challenge the Cincy forward progress fumble either. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the victory,but being a long time Beaver fan I want to see aggressive coaching for 60 minutes! I’ve seen too much weird stuff happen to the Beavers in the past.
