Somebody had to break the ice.

Who has plans for watching/attending the game tonight?

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 9:45 AM PDT   0 recs

I'll probably be watching!

I’m excited!

Go Beavers! cough

Go Duckies!

by JShufelt on Aug 28, 2008 10:28 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I'll be watching the game in Eugene...

Does anyone here know of a good bar to watch Beaver games here in this sea of green and neon yellow? My only stipulation is that they have nice TVs and they play the sound of the game, not the jukebox. Let me know if you guys have any places in mind! Thanks, GO BEAVS!

by Mallardvalue on Aug 28, 2008 11:13 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Mother of God

I’m rather excited.

Drinking heavily with friends. Be prepared for some drunken ramblings this evening.

by funk on Aug 28, 2008 10:00 AM PDT   0 recs

The drinking starts in T-Minus

3 hours. A whole lot of my friends are down in Palo Alto for the game, so the Beavs will be well represented with students. Can’t believe its here. GO BEAVS!

Holy Jumping Up and Down Martha

I cannot believe the 2008 season is about to start, I am about to crap my pants.

GO BEAVERS!!!!!!

I live and die Beaver

Yeah baby!

Good ol’ Darrell (sp?) Aune. :)

by sangdorange on Aug 28, 2008 3:12 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Drinking

Anyone got plans to watch the game at any of the fine establishments in corvallis.

by shteveo on Aug 28, 2008 11:09 AM PDT   0 recs

So excited!

My prediction is 24-13 Beavers. Sammie, J. Rodgers, and McCants each score a touchdown w/Kahut adding a field goal.

Watch party?

Are there any bars in the wilsonville/beaver/portland area that hosts a good beaver football watch party?

by Nickker22 on Aug 28, 2008 12:30 PM PDT   0 recs

did some searches and found Captain Ron’s Sports pub in sherwood. It’s pretty close to me (i live in wilsonville).. anybody else been there? as long as they have large tv’s, good beaver atmosphere and play the game audio over the loudspeakers, I’m fine.

by Nickker22 on Aug 28, 2008 2:03 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

They have MANY TV's

I live in Sherwood, been there a few times before.

The Sports Page

In Beaverton (Scholls & Hall) is a good bar for almost any sporting event. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s packed tonight, although they sometimes have karaoke that interferes with the game.

Things happen for a reason they say, but I say there's a reason things happen.

by sixth on Aug 28, 2008 5:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

i live in san diego county

and don’t have tv.

i’ll be listening to online radio :-/

im used to it.

its not like the old days when i’d get half naked with CV3000 and paint letters on our chest telling a certain usc fan base what we thought of them and their mascot compared to us and ours.

by orangetyler on Aug 28, 2008 12:42 PM PDT   0 recs

Get yourself to a bar and pour yourself a Mtn Dew, son

Pull your head out. Get in the game! It’s on ESPN!

by CV3000 on Aug 28, 2008 1:37 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

SERIOUSLY!

GO BEAVS! I’VE GOT CANADIAN FRIENDS (former OSU students) WHO ARE WATCHING IT IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH. IF THEY CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU!

maybe i’ll have to find a place. i wanted to be lazy about this.

peer pressssssure.

by orangetyler on Aug 28, 2008 2:05 PM PDT   0 recs

deuce hd

at least it’s better than the ocho. Apparently NC State at South Carolina deserves ESPN.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 4:29 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

anybody who gets ESPN gets the Deuce, too

Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

There will also be a replay at 11pm??

by CV3000 on Aug 28, 2008 2:36 PM PDT   0 recs

I am excited to see the new jerseys and what they look like on the players

i wonder what color combo they will use.

My bet is orange top, black bottoms

by Charles Barkley McLovin on Aug 28, 2008 2:43 PM PDT   0 recs

101 degrees in Palo Alto...

…let’s go white on white, instead.

And let’s not talk about uniform combos too much. A little bit is okay, but…then it starts to get a little bit “eugene-like” not that there’s anything wrong with that.

by CV3000 on Aug 28, 2008 2:51 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah i agree about the uni thing

but i thought the home team usually wore white, or their lighter color? or maybe that is just in basketball

Woof

by Charles Barkley McLovin on Aug 28, 2008 4:07 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

um, yes.

Beavs wear black or orange at home. White or orange on the road. Pants vary.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 4:30 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

18 pack or 24?

One of life’s big questions.

by CV3000 on Aug 28, 2008 3:06 PM PDT   0 recs

We only live this life once.

Get a 30 so your girlfriend can enjoy a few.

On Deck

About 20 recent grads are heading to On Deck in the Pearl District. 2 big screens and 7-10 flat screens. Should be a great place to watch the game!!

GO BEAVS!!

by Stickyfan on Aug 28, 2008 3:26 PM PDT   0 recs

Heard that's a great place.

Let us know how it goes.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 4:31 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

1.5 hrs until go time

Drinking commences in 30 minutes.

Enjoy the game folks. Hope it’s a good one.

by funk on Aug 28, 2008 4:31 PM PDT   0 recs

Have fun, Funk

Talk to you after the game?

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 4:44 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

4 PBRs closer to nirvana, my friends

you can also listen to the pre-game goodness that is kpam.com (the only thing I will plug them for is Beaver coverge—wtf is a political talk radio show doing as the main Beaver station…another topic for another day) with me, comrades.

by CV3000 on Aug 28, 2008 4:55 PM PDT   0 recs

Am I the only one?

Who could listen to Mike Parker read a phone book all day?

by CV3000 on Aug 28, 2008 5:16 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Parker is one of the best

Touchdown Beavers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by orangemocha on Aug 28, 2008 5:38 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I know a lifelong friend of his...

…he said that ESPN tried to snag him away to be a baseball announcer for them a few different times.

Obviously, he stuck with the better program!

ORANGE FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know

Afalava is out, but I heard Laybourn is hurt as well and will not be playing. Is this true?

Things happen for a reason they say, but I say there's a reason things happen.

by sixth on Aug 28, 2008 5:25 PM PDT   0 recs

he had a groin pull about a week ago...

…no idea if he still has it.

I said groin.

Beavers win, elect to Kick!

Come on Kahut!

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:06 PM PDT   0 recs

Woah

Louckas and Pritchard on the field at the same time? Weird. Beavs force punt!

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:10 PM PDT   0 recs

Oh well. That drive inculded:

McCants’ first carries in college
Jacquizz’s first carry in college
Hekker’s first punt

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:14 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Holy crap

He missed that by the width of the uprights, and the announcer thought it was close. Boo ESPN2, yay Mike Parker!

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:16 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

...and test the secondary

It’s the weakest part of the defense.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:23 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Why call for a out that's short of the chains on third down?

Doesn’t quite make sense, but we’ve seen that before I guess.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:22 PM PDT   0 recs

hey folks.......

Cardinal fan here just came by to see whats up…………since there is no Stanford blog…good luck tonight

by norcaliangelsfan on Aug 28, 2008 6:24 PM PDT   0 recs

Hey there guys

Nittany Lion here. Just scouting the competition tonight.

by BSD on Aug 28, 2008 6:25 PM PDT   0 recs

Glad to have you here, Mike.

I should know, but who are the Lions playing this week? I knew at one point.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:25 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

St. Cathrine's School of the Blind

Or Coastal Carolina. I forget which.

by BSD on Aug 28, 2008 6:27 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Thought it was someone like that.

On national TV? Haven’t planned my weekend of football watching yet.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:28 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Don't get that here, haha

At least, I don’t think we do….

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:31 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

No penalty?

Sammie wasn’t out of bounds, but, I mean, you can’t cut back when you’re leaning over the line. Thought they were going to call that more this year?

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:27 PM PDT   0 recs

OPening game for the Refs to.

Ok lets see a deep pass to Sammie.

by orangemocha on Aug 28, 2008 6:28 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Man if this is the offense Im going to watch all year from the Cardinal........

its gonna be a long year……..I still think a bowl game is possible though…….but holy crap

http://bills.sportsbloggingnetwork.com/

by norcaliangelsfan on Aug 28, 2008 6:29 PM PDT   0 recs

Hmmm

This Rogers kid is kind of worrying me

by BSD on Aug 28, 2008 6:30 PM PDT   0 recs

Both of them should be tough.

Quizz probably has lots of nerves right now. He’ll have even more in Beaver Stadium. If our O-Line can block down field, our backs should be really good.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:31 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

But you're right....

James is probably the one to worry about the most.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:33 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Wow, great block by Sammie.

Rodgers looked like he was toast at the first down marker. Got about five extra.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:30 PM PDT   0 recs

Conservative play calling.....

I guess that’s a good thing? Let’s just get the ball in the end zone.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:34 PM PDT   0 recs

found a radio feed.......

thats good…….better than following that gametracker alone

http://bills.sportsbloggingnetwork.com/

by norcaliangelsfan on Aug 28, 2008 6:35 PM PDT   0 recs

The new rules really favor James Rodgers

No 5 yd facemasks anymore, and the horse collar rule will make it hard to tackle Ocho Loco

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:36 PM PDT   0 recs

KZSU-2.......its a stanford feed

Probably not, but we can only hope so

Everyone loves Serna, but everyone wants the best kicker!

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:44 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

So far

All I see is a bunch of screens and end arounds.

by BSD on Aug 28, 2008 6:37 PM PDT   0 recs

Yeah

Riley is calling the game a bit conservatively right now. To say the least.

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:37 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

thats what working........

might as well exhaust it…….

Hey there

Mike and beavers,

Another penn stater, doing a little scouting. I also took osu -3 to keep things interesting. Would’ve loved a td there.

by spakajewia on Aug 28, 2008 6:43 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Thank god for the force out rule change lol

http://bills.sportsbloggingnetwork.com/

by norcaliangelsfan on Aug 28, 2008 6:38 PM PDT   0 recs

Crap. Sacked.

4th and goal at the ten. Kahut??!?!

--JB--

by Jake on Aug 28, 2008 6:39 PM PDT   0 recs

big time play.......needed that

http://bills.sportsbloggingnetwork.com/

by norcaliangelsfan on Aug 28, 2008 6:40 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

at least he did not throw a int.

like the mix of pass and run, hopefully they will try getting the ball down the field now, without the sun being in their eyes.

by orangemocha on Aug 28, 2008 6:41 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

If Pritchard doesnt return right away.....no biggie......

Im partial to Forcier myself…….but he is number 3…..

http://bills.sportsbloggingnetwork.com/

by norcaliangelsfan on Aug 28, 2008 6:40 PM PDT   0 recs

will he be better than Serna?

http://bills.sportsbloggingnetwork.com/

by norcaliangelsfan on Aug 28, 2008 6:43 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Good point.

Kahut probably won’t be better than Serna, but everyone wants the best kicker!
