Morning Orange Juice, 7.3.08

A quick rundown:

Several Beaver swimmers are competing for spots on their respective Olympic teams. From OSUBeavers.com:

Omaha, Neb. - Rachael Wahl began her quest to become a member of the United States Olympic swim team by competing in the 100 butterfly, where she finished with a time of 1:01.96 during the preliminaries, Monday.

During the preliminaries for the 200 butterfly, Wahl completed the event with a time of 2:16.43, Wednesday.

Brittney Iverson also competed for a spot on the team in the 200 individual medley. She finished the event 2:21.06 during the preliminaries, Tuesday.

Saori Haruguchi has already secured her spot on the Japanese Olympic swim team when she won the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:38.94.

Take a look at this article on OSU recruit Ryan Gorton from Tigard. Seems like a stud.

Former West Linn and Oregon State pitcher Andrew Checketts is now Oregon's pitching coach, Geoge Horton announced. Andrew was formerly the pitching coach at UC Riverside, on of Cal State Fullerton's rivals while Horton was with the Titans.

Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez has left his wife. Reportedly, Madonna is on the phone. What is the world coming to?
