OSU vs. Pacific Game 3, Regular Season Finale Open Thread

It's also Senior Day. More on that after the game.

This is a must win for the Beavers... we've been saying that all weekend.

The Starters will appear here shortly.

GO BEAVERS!

Leadoff walk = not good

But Peavey’s battled back and has two outs with a runner at second

Got out of it

Seemed to be not too much an issue (the leadoff walk), let’s get the bats going.

By the way, hope my follow up post about the canceled games made more sense. Think I made it too confusing about what I was thinking, sorry.

Yeah, I understand.

The reason I think those games somewhat hurt us is because I’m pretty sure they were all against beatable teams. While wins have been harder to come by this season than in years past, it seems like four extra games would have helped our record. I know one of the cancelled games was against Portland, but I’m not sure about the others. But who knows.

Wish I had video!

Just not the same not being able to see it. TV yesterday was awesome.

And I didn't even get to watch it.

Oh well… 9:30 tomorrow ESPN2! That’ll be on TV!

Kind of funny

Here’s how the Game Tracker listed the play: Play: Ortiz, R. out at first 3b to ss to 1b (0-0).

No

I can’t get it here. Very weird schedule of broadcasts here, basically get one game of a series on the radio who carries the games, guess they are pushing the subscription.

by rvm on May 25, 2008 1:27 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hmm

Tried it but yes not a great stream but finally got it and it is some other game on, high school something I think.

Thanks though.

Hopefully the radio stations will give OSU more respect next year.

I know KPAM is improving their signal and such, but I don’t know if they will cover OSU baseball. I know they cover basketball and football, but we have KUIK for baseball. And after 8:30 p.m., all you can hear are Mariachi bands.

Amazing catch by Robertson in CF.

That was incredible. Robertson was running straight back to the wall and made a great over the shoulder catch. And a great throw to keep the runner at first.

You're killing me

I miss the TV coverage! Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t that great of a game to see yesterday (as compared to the Arizona game FSN had) but at the least I could see it!

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 1:28 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, it makes a big difference

Even though the quality is nothing like what you get on TV, at least you feel like you’re in the ballpark.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 1:35 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wow, this game is a defensive spectacle.

It was Drew George in the first inning, then Daniel Robertson, now Ammon throws a strike to get the runner at second base. Two down.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 1:29 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Phew

caught him stealing, and with the double next batter that would’ve been a run.

by rvm on May 25, 2008 1:29 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Another quick inning for Pacific

That’s two 1-2-3 innings for the Beaver offense.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 1:37 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Struck out Ching

He’s a good batter and with a runner on second that was looking not good.

Line drive to right....

Good throw by Wallace to get the ball in quickly. Runners on first and third with two down.

Phew!

got out of that

Drew George doubles.

That’s a good omen. Lonnie will likely bunt here….

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 1:50 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

He does.

Lonnie gets the bunt down the first base line, DG moves to third.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 1:50 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep

Lead off double and get him to third, sigh.

At least the Beavs are putting the ball in play (but so is Pacific).

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 1:55 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

yep

They have been striking out more often, so hoping for Peavey to settle in and then some of our balls start falling for hits.

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 1:58 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wow... the first pitch of the inning is ripped into the OSU dugout...

Everybody’s okay. McKeever pops out to Lonnie in shallow right.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 1:56 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Strike 3

Quickly two down. Maybe Peavey will get out of this frame without any trouble.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 1:57 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Leadoff man aboard. Good news.

Ryan Ortiz now the batter.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 2:01 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Wallace steals second easily.

He now leads the team with nine SB’s on the year.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 2:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ortiz advances Wallace to third on a deep fly ball to center.

RBI opportunity now for Logan Boyd. He already has 7 RBI’s on the weekend.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 2:05 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Well so much...

for my Pacific is striking out more than us. Two with runner on third, ouch!

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 2:11 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Strike 3 called, inning over!

Great work by Peavey to keep getting himself out of these jams. We’re still scoreless through four and a half.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 2:19 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Yes!

But we are making this MUCH too hard on ourselves than I want to see.

Another lead off double

Let’s bust it open now!

Wong almost makes a web-gem in the hole...

It was Jeter-esque, but Lennerton barely pulled his foot.

Peavey's done... Sitton will come into the game

Great job by Peavey to keep runners from scoring in every inning that he got into trouble in.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 2:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

And Sitton...

gets them out of yet another jam.

Do I even need to repeat we need some runs now.

Triple for Wallace, great call by Coach Bailey to waive him to third.

Again, we have a runner on third with less than two outs.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 2:45 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Triple!

This time it is Wallace! I was just predicting the future earlier!

Yep, you are so correct again runner on third, we need to get him in.

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 2:46 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Very nice

A little more cushion, wish though we could have knocked some more of those runners in. 4 or 5 to 0 would feel a lot better to me.

What is up with the 3b kiss of death?

Both teams leaving them out there just sitting 90 feet away! How many is that for the Beavs today?

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 3:07 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Not yet

I’ll try to find out after the game. We need to win this game first.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 3:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sure

But hey, I have the luxury to think about it all and the Beavs are the ones still playing! :)

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 3:16 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lol

It was just my excuse to hope that MP would rattle off a list during the game.

I don’t know where I could find out the list, but I’ll work on it.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 3:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep

I’ve been feeling that with so many talented youngsters that it has been a problem matching up at times. Probably why we go through a bunch in an inning at times (like yesterday). Hoping this gets worked out more next year.

Another stirkeout for K-Rhod

A couple more runs and three more outs.

Top 9: Wallace, Ortiz, Hopkins

A few more runs here wouldn’t hurt.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 3:20 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

And Ortiz

New pitcher, must be bringing something different and challenging.

-RVM

by rvm on May 25, 2008 3:24 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hopkins grounds out 5-4.

It will be 8-9-1 for Pacific in the top of the ninth. Let’s go Rhoderick!

Error by Drew George on a routine play.

Dang. It was the first pitch too.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 3:27 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Tommasini to Wong, almost made it a double play.

It was a soft ball to John…. not hit hard enough to give Joey a chance to turn two. Oh well. One out, one on.

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 3:28 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Let's get it here

and end the game!

Wallace make the catch on a shallow fly ball.

Great job by Wallace… he made it look easy. Coach Wong will come to the mound to likely talk strategy. One more out!

Booya! Got him swinging!

The Beavers sweep Pacific, and the Beavs are now in position to get good news in the morning!

--JB--

by Jake Bertalotto on May 25, 2008 3:32 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Yep

Have to be impressed that they did what had to be done. Sure, sure it was Pacific, but still sweeping is not easy and they did it with their backs against the wall. I’m impressed no matter the news tomorrow.
