Beavers get one in the first
Hopkins and Wong both struck out to start the inning, but Ortiz was hit, then two base hits scored Ortiz. Ogata then struck out to end the inning, but at least the Beavers got on the board first and gave Peavey a 1 run cushion.

Bottom 5th, still 5-0
I’m liking the way this game is headed…. Peavey is doing a good job on the hill.

Peavey done for the day
Great performance in his first start in about two months….

...he said about five words per MP

Rhoderick is coming in...
He needs to go 2 1/3 to save this game

Rhoderick hits Stock, a run comes home
All tied now

Let them back into it
Tied 5-5, and really seemed to have this one under control until the last couple innings.

Yep
Peavey pitched good until he started to get tired. Then all this broke loose.

End 7
Tied at 5. How much would it suck to be Pat Casey right now.

Yep,
Apparently he was arguing a check swing call, which is just like arguing balls and strikes (i guess). MP said it was one of the quickest ejections he’s ever seen (Casey got approx. 5 words in)

Lennerton safe at first
The first baseman pulled his foot on a routine 4-3 play.

At least got out of that last one
With bases loaded was looking bad, but only one run damage.
Yep, need to get the bats going again.
-RVM
Yeah,
but you hate to let the guys score by virtue of a HBP

Keep them coming
Don’t have radio and the Game Tracker is on big time delay, still has Lennerton batting!
-RVM
Ortiz comes to the plate with runners on the corners
2 outs. A hit here would be clutch.

Come on Rhoderick!
We need six more outs and one run!

On a side note
Ellsbury’s streak ended today. Had a great single with bases loaded to break a tie, scoring two, but then was thrown out stealing and thrown out on a pitch out too (ouch!).
-RVM
were you able to watch that?
just heard about it and saw it in the boxscore
--JB--
by Jake Bertalotto on May 18, 2008 3:52 PM PDT up reply actions
Yep
TBS I think it was on, fun game something like six HRs total for both teams before I turned it off during the 7th.
-RVM
How many did he have? 24 or something like that?

by Jake Bertalotto on May 18, 2008 3:56 PM PDT up reply actions
Lonnie Lechelt makes a great catch in shallow RF, could of had a double play back to first
--JB--
by Jake Bertalotto on May 18, 2008 3:53 PM PDT reply actions
Ammon throws out the runner to second
that double play oppertunity doesn’t matter anymore

Hoping
We can end it in the 9th, not all that excited about extra (but will take them if we have to).
-RVM
same
Rhoderick has already had a longer than usual outing

by Jake Bertalotto on May 18, 2008 3:58 PM PDT up reply actions
Top 9: Wallace, Robertson, Ogata due
Wallace, get on base. Robertson, bunt him to second. Ogata, hit him in. It’s that easy.
--JB--
by Jake Bertalotto on May 18, 2008 3:57 PM PDT reply actions
yep.
7-8-9 coming up for us in the top of the tenth when we get there

okay
That was a terrible weekend…Going to need to get the remaining four I think. Shoot and I voted Green on your poll.
Should have not been swept this weekend.
-RVM
that's definitely not a good way to go out in our final Pac-10 series
If the selection committee would let us in for any reason, it seems like it would be because we finished the season on a hot streak. but we got swept in our final Pac-10 season.
--JB--
by Jake Bertalotto on May 18, 2008 4:18 PM PDT up reply actions
Yep
Hoping that if we can finish strong, which I’m afraid means a must needed win (repeating refrain here) tomorrow against Long Beach State who is ranked (correct?), then the entire/overall schedule could help the Beaver cause, oh and that we can take Pacific next weekend.
Hard to tell with things, but I feel this team has the talent and does play the top teams pretty well, so that if we can get into the post-season there is a good chance to make another run. But yes this weekend will not help the cause at all. Seriously I thought it could have been a sweep weekend, but was thinking the other team doing the sweeping!
-RVM
So
I’m a bit shocked in a way about the turn of events this last part of the season.
But I guess all-in-all it is a very good sign that we expect great things out of Casey’s teams now.
