Congrats Beavers Anyway
I pulled like hell for you guys to beat the Donalds, damn. Really, you could have just as easily been 10-2 and sewn the Rose bowl up as you were 8-4, but I tell you what: we at Utah don't need to play you again this season, that was a hell of a game. We Utes sympathize because we've had many a year where a couple of our losses were snatched from the jaws of victory.
Good season anyway, super special back there in the Quizz, and I think you've cleary got one of the best coaching staffs in the PAC-10, well the Western US. I sincerely hope he stays there and continues to be successful for you guys. Here's to a great recruting year and many wins next season.
Thanks also to any fans who travelled to Salt Lake. I enjoyed talking to you and hope we can make this a regular thing, or at least we can both beat the ducks regularly.

Keep it classy now...
Just ‘cause their hoops team stomped you out the other night doesn’t mean you have to run anti-LDS smack.
Nice screen name. A little obsessed are we? Good thing UW is your “real” rival, right?
It's spelled G-I-A-N-S-A-N-T-E

You know a lot of the Duck fans got up in arms about when a certain person wrote smack about their team, took it very personally if I remember it correctly. So I would consider how that might be amplified when talking smack about someone’s religion. And isn’t the title you are referring to more about extremist fundamentalists of that particular religious belief? If so I would think the conclusions could be applied to a lot of groups.

I think that was a lot of ArbyOSU’s point.

I wasn't making an LDS criticism comment
Though I have made many of those in my time, I was just wondering if anyone else here had read it. It’s one of my favorite books.
Sorry for the confusion.

Okay, that’s cool.
I still stand with ArbyOSU though that the first comment for this post was out of place on a sports fan blog.

I didn't find that a particularly anti-LDS comment
just a comment is ignorant of the fact that Utah is a public university and that there are fans of the Utes who aren’t LDS.
Besides if you look at how long it has been since a religiously affliated school won a national championship in D-1 football, it becomes clear that influencing the outcomes of football games isn’t high on God’s to do list.

I actually do believe it is high on his list.
See: USC football ending up winning the Pac-10 last year.

usc’s a non-denominational private school, isn’t it? i don’t think they have religious requirements.

We shall see, MeanBobMean. We shall see. Saturday, Sept 19th, 2009. The talking has already begun.

Yep
And with the players we lose (and now our defensive coordinator) to graduation this year I expect that to be an extremely difficult game for us to win.
Kudos on your fine season and hoping you win your bowl game as long as it is not against us.

USC is not Catholic and Utah is not LDS
Until 1912, USC students (especially athletes) were known as Fighting Methodists or Wesleyans, though neither name was approved by the university.
USC was founded by a Methodist horticulturist, an Irish Catholic pharmacist and a German Jewish banker. The university is no longer affiliated with the Methodist Church, having severed formal ties in 1952.
