Alright all you Oregonians, here is the FSN update.
I did the run around today to find out what the hell is going on with our game. You probably have listed on Comcast that Arizona-Washington State is going to be the game on at our time. Comcast has assured me that Oregon State-UCLA will be on, starting at 4 PM Pacific Time. Now, I forgot to ask whether they would just dive right in live, or if they would start it from the beginning. But there is another option.
For those with expanded cable, channel 413 is picking up the game starting at 3 PM. If you don’t have that channel, you can order it for $0.26 for the day. Of course, prices may vary depending on your current package. But that is what I am doing.
As always, Go Beavs! If you have any questions, I’ll be on the thread to answer best and quick as possible.

How do you order the channel for the day?
It says for “For ordering information, press Info” then it doesn’t give me anything.

No problem
It’s pretty sweet. Hopefully this is the only game we have to do this.
The other alternative is going to a bar, but who wants to do that…

I say we throw as little as possible and just hand it off to the Rodgers brothers. I want to see some more Q-ball action. And some McCants wouldn’t hurt either

Perry is done for the year
By all accounts that I’ve heard. So listing him on the injury report is almost pointless

He never took a redshirt.
Have we considered using a medical redshirt on him this year?

It's been discussed among bloggers
But I’m not sure how the rules are that would apply to him. I would have to think that he would be eligible. But remember it was never discussed publicly from the coaching staff with Sammie until after the season is over. I think the best thing to do is just prepare to move on without him. We have some stud young OLinemen. We should be fine.
Also, I heard that he his having some personal issues as well, so we just have to wish him the best of luck. He was one of the best OLineman we have ever had, even during his short career with us

It will be interesting to see what UCLA attempts to do today.
There hasn’t been a team this season that has stopped both Quizz and Quan on the ground. UW came the closest to stopping Quizz, other than Stanford, and James had his best game of the year.
Who will UCLA decide to stop?
I also expect a twist on the Quizz/Quan backfield formation. I see a fake to Quizz, wheel route deep to James… Canfield throwing deep has to be incorporated into the playbook.

by Cablinasian on Nov 8, 2008 12:55 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
You have to stop Quizz first and make Canfield beat you
The fly sweep doesn’t work as well if you have fast LBs, which UCLA does
So stop Quizz, and hope for the best.
But you can’t stop Quizz, so idk what their plan is
Oregon State: where play action defense and healthy QBs thrive
by The VD Special on Nov 8, 2008 1:20 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, but we've played defenses with fast linebackers...
If they stack the line inside, it’s very hard to stop James. My point is that a defense can either stack their LB’s inside or put them outside… If they try to to both the screens will kill them.

Exactly. We need Quizz to get going early
If he does, that’ll open up the flats and the fly sweeps.
The point is, we have to get going early and often to force UCLA to beat us.

I really think that this might be ok, starting Canfield.
Yes, I would much rather have Moevao, but there is less tape on Canfield. I think that Riley, Locey, and Langsdorf will change up the offense and get some new plays and formations that take advantage of Canfield’s strength. I really see the Beavers having max protect for a lot of the game…
Canfield needs a lot of time.

One thing that makes me feel better about this year's Canfield versus last year's Canfield
Is if you remember the ASU game, yes he needed time, but he didn’t falter in the pocket. Last year, he would just panic and fall to the ground. This year, he stands in there poised

Yeah, I will never forget watching Jonathan Smith.
The wonderful thing about him was that he understood two concepts. (1) Taking a short sack is better than throwing a pick. How many times did he take a three, four yard loss rather than throw a desperation pass? (2) A punt is an offensive weapon.
He was such a smart player.
