And that's all I'm going to say about it
If the ucks can hang with The Mighty Beaver Juggernaut for four full quarters and come out on top, they will have finally earned some respect from Joe A.
If not, my high school buddies who made the dubious choice career-wise of attending UO will again be subjected to my consistent description of their football program.
Consider your respect earned.

I used to kinda like the ducks...
then you guys went all ‘SuperDuck’ and now I think your uniforms suck.
Oregon really does have two of the coolest mascots. Ducks and Beavers? Awesome!

Nick Alliotti is god's gift to you guys today though.
So that’s a bright spot.
Alright time's up lez do this...
All the penalties. All the refs. All the missed opportunities for turnovers. I’m in hell right now. Come on Beavs!
Jeremy
I'll join you....thought I'm a PSU fan

I am happy that you guys had a decent season, thank god we don’t have to play again….

Yep.
And I think this game would’ve turned out different with him in there. But like I said, I think Clark & company are peaking right now, and I would hate to see them in the Rose Bowl. I honestly think USC is in trouble.

let's hope so, bro

As long as Clark doesn't throw a pic in the first quarter
otherwise, he will spend the rest of the game sulking on the bench…he has to get a little tougher mentally when dealing with adversity

I’m rooting for PSU all the way. Unless, of course, the Beavs pull out the win here. Wish PSU wouldn’t have lost. I think they are national championship contenders, and are peaking now.
Jeremy
too bad we couldn't have pulled out that Iowa game
but that’s the way it goes. Where will you guys go if you can’t pull out this game?

Holiday Bowl would be the best choice, but because the Ducks have won here, they’ll probably get it. If Beavs don’t go there, then they’ll most likely go to the Sun Bowl in El Paso, which will be a tough matchup against one or the other Big 12 school.
Jeremy
Do you get the Big 12 #3?
That would be a matchup against OU, TT, or Texas…and of which would be a great feather in OS’s cap

This game reminds me of an old video game...
Anyone remember “John Elway Quarterback” for the NES? You could score on every play!
Hard loss to take...
every time you guys were starting to roll, the defense just couldn’t put it all together to get a stop.
Still, it’s been one hell of a season for you guys – and you’ve got a bowl game still on slate.
This is such a shame.
As much as I want Penn State to play a different team in the Rose Bowl, I really do hate USC’s dominance of the Pac10 and their unassailable status as media darling.
USC losing the Pac10 to an upstart Beavers team would have been very satisfying.
LONG LIVE THE BEAVERS!!!
I will continue to cheer you guys on. Love your macot, your coach, and most of all… you fans. You guys are all class, man. Honest

True that
Beaver fans are class acts. Wish you guys the best. Glad we’re not playing you again…nothing personal. Wish we could add you to our schedule every year. It would be the first rivalry where the fans from both teams actually like each other.

I hate to say it...
..because the Beavs do best when expectations are poor, and this season isn’t over; there’s still a bowl game to play in.
but next year looks good.
It’s scary to think of what this game would have been like had Quizz played. Could have set some records.

unfortunately,
Quiz’ yards wouldn’t have made up for what the ducks ran tonight. No excuses from this beaver fan.
Jeremy
I agree.
However, the score probably would have been something like 75-58 or so; assuming that the Ducks get an extra possession and score, and Quizz is worth three TDs on offense.

So what happened, anyway?
Did the defense stay up all night at a kegger, or what? The Beavers are making the Ducks look like Texas out there. No disrespect to the quacks—they deserved it—but what the hell happened?
Are we going to see Moevao-vs-Canfield rear its ugly head? Are boosters gonna call for Sean to start the wherever-we-land bowl? I’m not suggesting this myself—one bad game doesn’t merit a benching—but I can hear the calls already…
Part of me wants Riley to refuse any bowl invitations this year, just to teach ’em a lesson.
thats turning down a lot of money for the program though lol

by norcaliangelsfan on Nov 29, 2008 7:49 PM PST up reply actions
I know...
which is why I said “part of me”… it depends on what happens.
If the Beavs just got beat then they just got beat. No shame there.
If, OTOH, they did something stupid to undermine their readiness for the game, that’s when such a sanction might come into play.
I’ve no idea. Riley probably does.
by EngineerScotty on Nov 29, 2008 7:53 PM PST up reply actions
Moevao played well. I don’t think there is any booster pressure. Riley won’t let that happen. Riley will choose the right man for the bowl game. I have learned long ago to never question Riley’s decisions. He always proves me wrong in the long run.
Ducks are a dangerous team, and extremely difficult to defend, especially when they have an extra week to heal up and plan. They get all the credit for their amazing scheme. Our defense did their best, I think. I just think the Ducks overmatched us tonight. Period.
Jeremy
Yep, that one hurt but I’m still proud of the team and think about where this team was suppose to end up and where we did, still impressive. By the way we have one more to go so need to keep the support up! Hope people don’t get too down, but I’m sure the Duck smack talk won’t help much. But hey if you dished it out you need to take it and if you didn’t then just ignore it all (I’ll try my best).
As much as I hate to here’s your credit UO, that’s all, good game :( and onwards for the Pac-10 and let’s smack around some Big 12 teams (ouch that hurt…)
-RVM
thanks I think
But have to admit the whole needing one win was big for me this year, and to have it against such a dangerous and rested team just sucked. Will admit also I think most of the hurt came from that fact and then some from losing to the Ducks. Wasn’t all about the CW this year for me. Anyway…
-RVM
Not sure what not to understand. The game loss hurts because I wanted the one more win. It wasn’t so much about the Ducks vs. Beavers this year. It was about making some Beaver history. Anyway, guess it doesn’t make that much sense in the trash talking going on now, but I was just saying that all the past history stuff seems a bit off to me tonight.
So, it was hard to watch the game because of being outmatched by a healthy and athletic team and wish our D showed up a bit more and made it a game and wish we were healthy, but no excuses overall the team knew what it needed to do. So wish it was more of a game, and not sure if the score was just something that was meant to be or was rubbing it in. Probably both! But hey the game is played to win and the better team won tonight.
Does that make sense? I guess I’m old-fashioned and I don’t feel the need to go to the Ducks board when we win and go on about this and that fan was talking about this or that. Just trying to be polite…and trying to summarize my overall feelings about the game. Guess I wasn’t really replying to you directly if that makes sense?
-RVM
Alright I understand
To sum… it wasn’t that it’s the rivalry game, it’s that it’s just a big game?
Alright time's up lez do this...
For this year, yep. So I guess the thing is if it was Bowling Green we lost to like this on the last game needed to go to the Rose Bowl I would ****in’ hate them just as much!
Okay, seriously, It was strange but just didn’t feel like that big rivalry game this year for me (well not as much), it seemed like people were pretty quiet around me who are Duck fans. So if you want me to respond to the smack talking after it seems to demean the season more than the normal end of the year smack talking, you know like when the Beavs blew out the Ducks and the Ducks returned the favor the next year? BUT I understand that what comes around goes around. Just not my scene.
Anyway it sucked.
-RVM
so yes
I just don’t feel too excited to get into the back and forth about it all. Been a Beavs fan too long and it was just so close this year.
I think that actually is more in direct response to you!
-RVM
Yes I understand.
I’ll lay off reaming you for tonight… but JUST tonight ;)
Alright time's up lez do this...
Moevao played well.
Throwing 2 count them TWO pick sixes?!? That qualifies as a “good” game in your book?

Yeah, that will be fun.
I laid off the trash talking early in the week because I knew Oregon could be dangerous. Masoli was starting to peak, the bye week, and our injuries… I knew this would be tough for OSU. CV will have to eat his words this year.
Jeremy
I can hear the excuses coming already.
“No Quizz… bad reffing… methgene flysweep 5th place ducks…” blah blah blah
Alright time's up lez do this...
Coming from a duck...
I know this loss hurts beaver fans, but hey, you guys will have a solid program next year. Ducks just wanted it more. Guys from AtQ, let’s keep it clean.
good call, pacer... way to pick em up
I am praying for the day when either of you guys can pry that smug ass look off of those douchebag USC fans’ faces. I can’t stand em down here

The Revenge Factor
is like the possession arrow in NCAA hoops. And on the alternating possession rule, it Is in OSU’s possession once again. :)
In 2000, the Beavers won the CW, knocking the Ducks out of the Rose Bowl, and landing in the BCS. Advantage: Ducks.
Next year, after SI foolishly proclaimed the Beavs the #1 preseason team, and 9/11 happened, and the Beavs went into Eugene needing one more win for a bowl game, the Ducks knocked the Beavs out of bowl contention, and got into the BCS themselves. Advantage: Beavers.
It took the Beavs six years to capitalize, as the next several CWs were won by the home team with nothing too big on the line. But we all know what happened last year… advantage Ducks.
And now this: advantage: Beavs.
We may have USC, Cal, and Oregon on the road next year, but the Revenge Advantage is far more important. Of course, that means we’re screwed against the Trojans, and probably against the Bears if they are any good. OTOH, we also owe the Nittany Lions a good smackdown—when is their return trip to Corvallis?
:)
Of course
that also means that Notre Dame owes us bigtime.
If they weren’t so pious and snotty (and sore over events in 1989 and the 2001 Fiesta Bowl), I’d suggest they hire Dennis Erickson as their next head coach, should they decide to fire Pear Bryant. He’s probably looking to get the heck out of Tempe…

Oh wait—the “decided schematic advantage” enjoyed by Notre Dame—permitted the Irish to kick a field goal.

I wonder what Canzano's take will be?
Will he view the game as an anamoly? A matchup nightmare? Or as a simple matter of one team wanting it more?
Or will Jumpin’ John hop back onto the Belotti Bandwagon and off the Riley Express? He hasn’t called for Riles’ head lately… something must be wrong.
He's going to talk about the ducks wanting it more.
He’s so predictable. I doubt he’ll say anything bad about Riley though.
I dunno
Given Canzano’s long-documented short-term memory loss, I’m half expecting a column about how Riles threw away a chance to go to the Rose Bowl by not playing Quizz. :)
(Yes, I know what he wrote earlier this week, that’s the point).
Of course, such a column would be disrespectful to the Ducks—our problem wasn’t our ability to put points on the board; it was our inability to stop the other team. (And turnovers…gawd).
But Canzano is such a transparent front-runner, it’s unbelievable. Any bets on whose job he calls for next—Riley, or UO men’s hoops coach Ernie Kent? (He’s already called for Belotti to be canned this season; which is of course an equally ridiculous proposal).

No kidding, the two Oregon teams tie for second only behind USC and we need to can and/or quit supporting everyone (he was the one who called for the OSU football boycott if they lost to Hawai’i correct)? I never understood this talk. What does he want? Nevermind he doesn’t know…

I don't remeber the boycott call
but Google helps us—and it was documented here in this thread.

This one definitely hurt
The better team absolutely won today. I give all the props to the Ducks for coming out prepared and firing on all cylinders. Down the stretch, they made the big plays when they had to and the Beavers couldn’t stop them.
This is the one thing that I feared, getting into a back-and-forth (all offense, no defense) game. Our offense could not establish our back-bone which is the running game. Those last two TD’s scored at the end of the first half REALLY hurt. They are what turned the tide in this game.
Overall (although I’m not happy with the outcome) I’m pleased that OSU was still able to keep it close all the way to the 4th quarter, despite the uphill battle. I have faith that the team can bounce back from this in the upcoming bowl game.
Through thick and thin I’m a Beaver Believer!
What happened to our defense?
The Ducks ran the same zone read all rd quarter and got 5+ yards every time. I think the offense played well enough to win, especially without a running game. And special teams helped us get good field position but we really struggled in the red zone.
Oh well. Lets jus tbe happy that we are going to a bowl game and who, UCLA could keep our dreams alive by beating USC
Woof
by Charles Barkley McLovin on Nov 29, 2008 10:28 PM PST reply actions
Agreed
The Beavers defense didn’t do well in adjusting, I guess. It looked like they weren’t finishing off tackles that they normally would. The ball carrier would just bounce off, break-them, and get a big gain. Also the Ducks made some huge 3rd down conversions. Masoli was throwing it all over the field. The Beavs had chances to convert on some bad throws by Masoli, but they couldn’t.
I would’ve liked McCants to establish himself early on. He tried, but didn’t succeed. Even with a 1-Dimensional offense, we were still able to score with regularity.
They simply out-played and out-hustled us.
No excuses here.

Congrats for a great season
From a UO fan. You’ll be great next year, see you in Autzen!
Proud member of Duck nation!
Here here
and you still have a chance to go to the Rose Bowl. With the early schedule you have next year and the players coming back, this isn’t the end of the road…it is only the beginning. Thanks for the great regular season memories in 2008 and go win your bowl game, whatever it may be.
--Dominic
Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die." - J. Brady McCullough, The Michigan Daily.
No Roses
How does your Duck taste today CV? For the most part, I don’t have a problem with Beaver fans but CV is the ultimate arrogant Beaver clown who constantly throws out skewed arguments to incite Duck fans. I get a lot of satisfaction out of knowing CV is depressed and crying this morning because everything he believes about his little program has been shot down in flames.
GO DUCKS!!!! Way to step up and FINISH the season. I think Utah State had a better D than the Beavs.
I agree
Congrats to the classy Beavers fans and best of luck in the bowl game.
With that said, it does provide a little bit of cherry on top to know that cv is eating crow today. That guy is the ultimate Beaver homer who takes more pride out of a Duck loss then a Beavers victory. It is probably a sad measure of myself to know that last night I got a little pride knowing that cv3000 was probably crying himself to sleep.
Tough Loss
Wow, that was one really rough game for you guys. Trust me when I say I honestly do feel bad for you.
But, after the week starts to roll away you’ll be able to look back on a pretty impressive season, and that will be of some comfort. Good luck in whatever bowl game you end up in.
Go Bears!
Tough Tough loss!!!
I am having a hard time today coming to the realization of what happened yesterday. I really do believe the better team won yesterday. Some people are saying Canfield should have played. But guess what he doesn’t play D! Our D didn’t show up and we could not contain Oregon yesterday. So as much as it pains me I have to say the better team won. Congrats Oregon! I look forward to many hard fought meaningful CW’s to come because both programs are gonna be in the run for the Pac 10!
Go Bruins beat USC!!!!
It was nice to get this one
We owed you that one. But congrats on a great season. Best of luck in the bowl game. Look on the bright side, you have Quizz for at least two more years.
I know that you're thinking about making a Woodburn joke. Know that I will pummel you if you do.
I miss you, ATQ.
