Talk About The Arizona Game
This is a video of Arizona's 3rd quarter explosion against Cal a month ago. It's the main reason why everyone has been so afraid of Arizona this year. I don't really have time to watch it or write anything interesting about it or Arizona Football in general, so I was kind of hoping that maybe someone could pitch in with a little insight? Maybe some amateurish statistical analysis of how their season has been going? Anything helps. Thanks.

Alright, fine. Here's a little statistical comparison with relatively good stats in bold, and relatively bad stats underlined in italics. What you'll notice is that Arizona is like a bizarro Oregon State. They have nearly identical stats in: rushing yards per attempt, passing yards per attempt, passer rating, scoring defense, time of possession, 3rd down conversion, 1st downs, etc. I mean, the stats are so similar that it's crazy. Arizona has better kicking and punting and, surprisingly, they are penalized less frequently. OSU fumbles quite a bit less, has a better rushing defense, redzone defense (an area where Arizona is horrible).
It's kind of crazy...

Has anyone even watched an Arizona game this year?
It seems like they’ve been on TV even less than our little sisters.

They look fairly dangerous
but it also looked like cal’s defense was playing like we did against penn state. they were out of position and didn’t wrap up. I think if our defense plays as good as they do at home we should be ok.

It's weird, they gave up more points to WSU than USC.
They also lost to New Mexico, which runs the same defense as Oregon State.

They're a Jeckyll and Hyde team as far as I can tell.
I don’t think they’ll be able to stop us from doing what we want to do on offense (push Quizz down the field), considering that they give up 4.3 per rush.
I’m not really sure what happened to them in the first half against the duckies, but it kind of looks like everything went wrong—similar to how they ambushed Cal in the video.
This is a game where having a stout run defense, heavy QB pressure, and an assembly line of playmakers will come in handy.

This
I am a UofA grad living in Eugene so I have been able to watch quite a few UofA and OSU games this year.
I have to agree with CV3000. The Cats are a Jekyll and Hyde team. You really never know what team you are going to get. It could be the team that ran over Cal in the second half and played well against USC or it could be the team that got beaten up by New Mexico or gave the game away to that Junior University in Palo Alto.
I think OSU is a better team in a vacuum. There are two reasons that I like the Cats in this game though.
1. OSU has more on the line and will almost certainly be looking forward to the Civil War a week later. This seems a bit like a trap game to me.
2. UofA has been a bit dream killer for teams in the Pac-10 over the last few years. Cal, UCLA, and UofO are all teams that had their hopes smashed in Tucson.
IMHO.

This is exactly why I'm scared.
That’s why OSU needs to come out sharp. The defense needs to get in Tuitama’s face early and not allow him to get a rhythm. Some hard hits on Tuitama in Arizona’s first couple possessions should help.
I’ve only seen a couple Arizona games this season so I don’t really know how good their defense is. Moevao needs to not gamble that much, especially late throws down the middle of the field. NO TURNOVERS, please.
I think turnovers will be a huge factor in this game.

OSU will not overlook zona.
That whole concept doesn’t make any sense when there’s two teams playing on the same field. I can guarantee that USC wasn’t overlooking OSU when they were down 21-0, for example.
It’s just like how I don’t think UofA was overlooking the *ucks when they were down by 31 at halftime, BUT I’m pretty sure that they weren’t expecting for Masolium to be able to pass the ball effectively out of the blue, for the first time ever, looking 50 times better than any *uck QB has looked all year.
I don’t think UofA was prepared for uowned to utilize the forward pass, since whoregon runs a high school offense and has mediocre offensive personnel who only seem to be effective against horrible defenses. I consider UofA to be an above average defense, and I completely understand that they were surprised that Masoli was able to throw accurate passes against them, since he’s never ever shown that he is capable of that.
I was shocked because I thought they had given up on the forward pass altogether.

I was just waiting for a game with zero pass attempts.

Totally Agree
We have not overlooked Wazzu, UW, ASU, UCLA, or Cal so I don’t know why we’d start with Arizona.

It's impossible to overlook 11 guys who are there in real life, hitting you.
It’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard about football.
