Around SBN: How Not To Criticize Tom Brady For The Patriots' Loss

Oregon State +3 at Arizona

Ruh roh.

Everyone knows that the desert is where Rose Bowl dreams go to die. UCLA in 2005, Cal in 2006, Oregon in 2007. For whatever reason, when the Pac-10 looks ready to rise up, Arizona and Mike Stoops are there to quash us and make us all look like dopes. The books aren't bothering to be coy here; even though the Wildcats have bowl eligibility, they looked absolutely dangerous at Autzen on Saturday, and their defense plays a hundred times better at home. As a Cal fan, you're probably facing your stiffest challenge of the year next week, considering the expectations. Better hope the defense is ready to deal with the Texas Tech hybrid spread.

Are you liking the Beavers to take the road win and be one game away from the prize? Or are the Wildcats going to doom us to another USC Rose Bowl thrashing?

Not really too concerned.

We’re talking about an arizona team that gave up 748 points to oregon (a team generally incapable of completing a forward pass) in one half.

And, I’m pretty sure we were only favored by 3 against Cal. And a 25 point underdog to USC.

And and and.

7 of our last 8 ATS.

I’ll take the team on the streak.

I'm nervous as fuck

More nervous than I’ve ever been before a game. But one thing has calmed me down. This team is playing just like that, a team. Moevao had arguably his worst game since he became the starter, and look what happened, the defense showed up and everyone else stepped their game up to help him. Guys are playing together, and love playing for Riley. They want this for him and Beaver nation. Cal is an explosive team, and the defense held them to 14 points (I won’t consider that great field position for Cal to start the game the Defense’s fault)

That return and the missed tackles later on the short pass just all look to me now (and kind-of felt this at the time) as being a bit jumpy for a big game in front of a huge home crowd. Once the special teams and D settled down they played great. I actually think they might be a little more settled down sooner for the UA game because don’t have the home sell out energy jacking them up. Sounds strange I know but I just think it had an effect in the beginning and then they settled into more of a routine and were able to feed off the energy of the crowd.

They were all jacked up and going for the big hit.

Just forgot to wrap up. I think the coaches reminded them of what happened at Stanford and Penn State and then they reminded them that they have arms.
