Camping for Civil War tickets at Reser

Hey guys, just thought I'd let everyone know that I am out here at Reser Stadium camping out for Civil War tickets with the rest of the students. Unlike previous games, where it is unorganized with people just coming and cutting, there are rules to keep everyone happy. So for any students coming to camp out here, are the rules...

1. You can have up to a group of 10 in your designated area. Not all 10 have to be at the spot at all times, but somebody has to be there at any given time. A student is walking around getting a name and the number of people in your group. If you tell him 8, and 10 show up, 2 people will be sent to the end of the line

2. Keep the trash in the garbages. The athletic department has told us that they will allow us to camp out so long as we keep the parking lot clean.

3. Be curteous to others. We all have classes, and some of us have tests in the morning. When it gets later, please be respectful to those trying to sleep. We are all out here together.

4. I am of the understanding that there will be state troopers walking around and monitoring, keeping everybody safe. That being said, don't expect much leway with drinking. I'm sure it's not allowed.

5. And finally, please keep it organized. Don't try and sneak your friends who didn't want to wait all night to the front of the line. It's just disrespectful to the rest of us out here.

Currently there are 100+ tents with between 8-10 people for each tent, so you're looking at already between 800-1000 students waiting in line. So get out here and get your spot in line. GO BEAVS!

If anyone is out here and can get some pictures uploaded that'd be awesome. I think it'd be sweet for everyone to see the dedication of our students now. I remember just 3 years ago you could get a student ticket the Friday before the game. Now, tickets are sold out within a couple hours.

If I've been to all of the games...

I should be guaranteed a ticket, correct? Only 6,000 student tickets for every game, so at most (assuming 6,000 students went to every game) they can only give out 6,000 tickets before students that have been to less games get a chance, correct? I’ve got “real life” responsibilities that prevent me from camping out.

Hope you're right...

This whole camping out thing is making me nervous. Don’t care where my seats are, just want to be in the stadium.

You need all the ticket stubs

There will be tickets for everyone with all 5 stubs given out Monday and Tuesday. Then on Wednesday they will give out tickets for anyone with 4 or more. Then so forth. So you should probably be able to get a ticket tomorrow sometime, but you might have to wait a while in line. But yes, you will probably be able to get in the game.

Word

Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Gracias.

That’s awesome that there are so many people camping out. There’s probably no better way to enjoy a cold, miserable Oregon fall night outside than that!

While it sucks you can't just go and get a ticket any day of the week anymore

I also think its awesome. The students that have been at Oregon State since 2000 offer a new set of alumni-to-be in the next coming years that will undoubtedly increase donations and the overall atmosphere of the program. I’m really excited for what’s to come for the Beavs in the future.

There are now probably close to 1,500 students in line now.

Beer is starting to arrive. A party in the Reser parking lot is about to ensue

Ahh, I wish I could camp out but I can't.

I’m hoping there will still be tickets if I get there around 8.

Even if I have to wait a few hours, I’ll be there.

Get the word out about the plastic bottle noise makers, please.

Thanks.

This is way better than in 1999 or 2001 when they gave out wristbands at 5pm on Sunday so that people wouldn’t camp out for tickets on the athletic department steps. They gave out a bunch of wristbands that were basically the same as getting a ticket so the people who were there called their friends and pretty soon they were all gone (only about 200 student tickets for the road game). Then people started camping out, but nobody knew that the wristbands had ever been distributed until everyone showed up in the morning. Gosh, that sucked so bad.

I had mine

It was pretty loud too. Everybody around me saw it, so I hope to see more against the Ducks.

I was there...

A bunch of guys from the co-op house I lived at went and camped out all night. The Daily Barometer had printed that tickets would be distributed in the morning, and not before. Then they did the wristband thing without telling anybody. A bunch of drunk frat boys came along to taunt people camping out, but no one believed that the athletic department would actually “pre-sell” the tickets before the announced time. Around 8am, someone came out and made the announcement, and had several hundred (or more) very cold, angry students on their hands. They quickly went back inside and chained the doors. I thought there would be rioting! We were really {lawyers!} {lawyers!} !!!!

What is this thing you describe as "camping out?"

My attendance at OSU was from 1979 to 1984. I do not recall any special efforts to acquire football tickets during this time.

Your many references to highly desired tickets confuses and frightens me.

Update:

My guess between 1500-2000 students out here now. 6 members of the band showed up and walked through and played some OSU songs, with a trail of students behind. Victor Butler and Keenan Lewis already drove through yelling “Go Beavs”

Joe, I'm with you - dazed and confused

Was at OoooEssssUuuuu from ‘74 – “approximately” ’79, and I don’t recall ever having to wait in line for TICKETS….for a football game??! Definitely basketball. (How sweet is this though?!?)

Thankful that the ghosts of Parker Stadium are gone....

Section 112, Row 7

I am happy just to get a ticket. I had to wait in line for 2 1/2 hours, but it was worth every minute of it.

Depends. Does it involve a ridiculous amount of alcohol, steak, bears, and nobody in at least a 10 mile radius?
