If you're going to the Cal game...
I hope that this weekend’s game vs. the Golden Bears restores my faith in Beaver fans.
Prolog: The game this weekend is bigger, YES I believe bigger, than the USC game. Not only does it bring in one of the top teams in the conference to our house, Reser Stadium, it portends to a very difficult game next weekend in Tuscon. What we, as fans, show this weekend regardless of the outcome will stay with the team when they go down to the desert.
History: ASU 2 weeks ago -- from my section (and from other sections in the stadium that I’ve read about and have heard about) it seemed like our fans were not into the games outcome. Maybe it was the late start or the cooler weather, whatever the reason it was way too quiet considering the games importance. I’m hoping for a similar intensity to what I witnessed when USC was here. By far September 27 vs. USC was the loudest that I can remember Reser, and I’m going back 15 years. The game this weekend vs. Cal must have a similar fervor to SC and can we please have a sell-out (challenge: can we actually sell-out a non civil war game??).
Request: If you go, let the Bears know they're in OSU territory! Don’t be like Duck fan, fighting amongst each other (re: UCLA) just make noise, a lot of NOISE! The Beavers will need the 12th Man (or Woman) behind them this coming Saturday. We expect the team to bring their “A” game, so it’s our responsibility as fans to bring ours.
Update: It appears we finally have a non civil war sold out game! Great job everyone, now the 12th man needs to show up!
Go Beavs!

A small comment ...
I hear the weather for gametime will be absolutely horrible. It would probably be a much better idea for all Beaver fans to find a bar, or gather at someone’s house, and stay warm. Plus you’ll be able to drink all you want, have some outstanding munchies, and get to watch a game in big-screen High-Def.
Stay away from Reser, Beaver fans! You’ll just be miserable.
Okay, back to your regularly-scheduled OSU talk.
Go Bears!

I want the Cal game and Civil War to be played in miserable conditions
It’s pretty evident from the last 2 weeks that neither team can play in hurricane-esque conditions.
And come on Oski, do you really think that in the midst of potentially the 2nd best season in Oregon State history, Oregonians are going to let a little rain ruin the day? We RELISH the rain :-D
Better believe you won’t see a half-empty stadium like Strawberry Canyon the other week, although that did look awful…

I'll take that as a Cal fan
I’m pretty sure the only reason we beat Oregon was due to the weather. Our offense hasn’t been clicking, especially in the pass game. I think the weather canceled out that Oregon advantage and allowed us to win the game.
Would love to see that this weekend as well.
See you at the game!

... or you're just better than us.
I like my lineman with good footwork, good upper body strength, a nice wide base, compsure, and preferably not hungry.

I am going to disagree with my esteemed colleague, TMoran here. We passed pretty well considering the situation with the weather. Since our RBs fumbled 3 times in the first half, we tried passing more. Riley threw for a TD and was moving the ball well until he received a concussion. Longshore came in and threw for ANOTHER TD and was throwing some good passes.
The real problem for Oregon was they couldnt pass. Masoli had 44 passing yards on the day. When Oregon got down in the 4th, they took out Masoli and put in Roper to pass pass pass. Since the Cal D didnt need to stay honest to the Oregon passing attack, they just stuffed the line of scrimmage and held the awesome Oregon run game mostly in check.
You could blame some of the Oregon passing attack weakness on the weather. But Cal’s passing attack was doing fine. Masoli just isn’t a passing QB. He’s a RB at QB. Thats the #1 reason we beat Oregon. Or #1 is getting key turnovers at the right time. Can’t forget that. A lot of luck there.
It appears that OSU has a much better passing attack. Although with Canfield in as compared to Moaviwehaf, it’s unclear how well that passing attack will be. Canfield has looked good in limited action. Against WSU, UCLA, and ASU. Not exactly sterling defenses there.
That’s the big question mark there. Reports have Moavewh practicing, but not looking anywhere close to 100%. If an injured Moarvhoai or Canfield play and can’t move the ball well, then Cal can just stuff the line a la Oregon and hopefully shut things down. Easier said than done, though.
Please disregard the above ramblings as those of a clearly delusional fan.

agreed on the summary of the oregon game.
The ducks were the only team who couldn’t figure out how to pass in that game.
Don’t think the Bears will be able to just stack the line though, we’re not anywhere near as bad as whoregon. OSU can go back to the 2007 offense with flysweeps and zone plays to keep everyone honest even if Canfield can’t do it by throwing 75 yard passes.

I agree that OSU will be able to throw better than Oregon in this game. I guess I am not as sold on Canfield as you are, tho. This all hinges on him. If he plays well, Quizz will prolly run all over us. If we can shut him down, we can hopefully limit Quizz’s damage.
The reason why Arizona with a MUCH worse running game than Oregon or OSU was able to run all over us was because their passing game is unbelievable. So, between the two extremes of Arizona and Oregon I see OSU somewhere in the middle. Hopefully, closer to the Oregon side! ;)

You're right UA is good at passing, but OSU has the same exact passing stats as UA....
UA and OSU have the same passer rating, same yards per attempt, same a lot of things.
Arizona uses their tight end in the passing pattern a lot more than OSU, but tight end blocking is a big part of why OSU has only allowed 9 sacks this year. Tuitama doesn’t throw as many picks as Moevao/Canfield, but that’s balanced out by the lack of turnovers in the OSU running game—Quizz still hasn’t fumbled yet.
Putting Canfield out there gives the Bears one more possession, maybe even takes a touchdown off the board. He will turn the ball over more often than Moevao and he is more likely to get sacked because he takes too long getting the ball away. Basically, he Nate Longshore on a better offense.

I was at the ASU game and thought it was pretty loud when it needed to be but that late start DEFINITELY took the wind out of a lot of peoples’ sails. The weather, save for a few minutes of light showers, was actually perfect. I actually had to take off my jacket.
That being said, any football team that has this guy for a fan needs to get smoked at Reser. It NEEDS to happen.

I think it was more an effect of Halloween the night before
With a stadium of only 45,000, 6,000 of them being students, the student section definitely sets the tone for the rest of the stadium. Having all night drinking on Halloween the night before, Saturday felt more like a Sunday. Most people were recovering until 3-4 PM. By the time they got to the game, everyone was tired. I think this being dad’s weekend and a 12:30 game, people will be drunk and ready to go.

Exactly
The crowd feeds of the game, and the players feed off the crowd
When the teams started fighting against ASU, the crowd seemed more intense
So maybe, if they want to of course, Twist and TheMaharg can run onto the Beaver in the middle of the field and start jumping around like idiots. CV and myself will then run out there and go face to face with them and start jumping around like idiots.
It’s a sure fire recipe to get the crowd fired up

It was a strange game to get into at times
There was ta lot of back and forth stuff going on, too much ASU surprising us, too many FGS exchanges there for awhile, then wondering what happened to our QB. It all was hard to get into at times, come on it was ASU and we didn’t expect them to play us closer than USC could and they did!
The 4th got pretty loud though and it was rocking on that last drive. Not sure what sections were bored there at the end. Mine sure wasn’t.

Oh, and I will add that those speakers on the new side should be cranked down a bit. Part of crowd noise is hearing everyone building out of the break and at times you can’t hear anything over the music.
Sorry for the “old man” complaint but I think it actually drowns out that building of the crowd noise coming out of a break and makes you wait too long for the music to go away then start cheering.

Here is the definition of Trolling per urbandictionary.com. There are several. I grabbed the most complete. It doesn’t matter where you post the comments.
One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. ’you’re nothing but a fanboy’ is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.
