This week Chad Doing of the MSP picked UW +14 as his lock of the week.
I don’t really see how OSU doesn’t win this by over two touchdowns. Look at uwdawgpound.com and see what they expect. When a fanbase expects to be pasted, it is probably not a great sign for their chances.
BOOM is right!
That clip never gets old. It looked like Gunnheim flew almost five yards after LMo hit him. Anybody remember that Snickers commercial from years ago, when the QB got flattened and the trainer asks him if he knows where he is, etc.?
Do you think Gunnheim thought he was Batman after that play? :)
Moevao will need to do something special
to improve on last years hit.
I say he moves back to his old position for one play and put him on a blitz and sack the QB. That would awesome!

The game started out as us being only a 7 point favorite
What is Vegas thinking? UW is without their stud QB (and they weren’t very good when he was playing), and now have lost their starting guard. Their defense is trash and their offense sucks. I would be very disappointed if we didn’t win by at least 24 points.

Not to be a wet blanket or anything, I'm just sayin'
It pains me tremendously to say ANYTHING positive about UW, but here it is: On the subject of Moevao’s hit, it’s fun to watch but here’s something I haven’t heard anyone else mention…it was not a bad play by the Huskies. Gunheim had no business being allowed a nearly clean shot at Rodgers on that play, especially considering Gunheim’s non-fleetness of foot, and Lyle’s quick reaction prevented a big loss. In the event, Rodgers had to loop south about four extra yards early which meant he didn’t get to the sideline ahead of the pursuit so it was a ho-hum play. Slow down Gunheim just a little at the line, it would have been an 11-yard pickup. Look at the video, judge for yourself. I think Gunheim did a pretty good job on that play despite the goober-ific block to which he was subjected.
Similar to the way James Rodgers shrugged off the UO DB on his touchdown run in last year’s Civil War, it seems like this play relies on at least one untouched defensive player whiffing to work properly. Any offensive strategy experts out there able to tell me if this is true or if Rodgers often succeeds despite blown blocking assignments?
All plays work better when someone whiffs
That was Moevao’s blocking assignment on that play. Everyone else is selling the play going to the left, which is why the backside is open for Rodgers to run the reverse. Normally the quarterback doesn’t need to make that kind of a block, it’s usually enough for him to just go up and get a shove to redirect the defensive end—and a shove would have worked there, but Lyle was just going for some style points.
That play works a lot and almost every teams run it at every level. I thought it was funny when they ran it on the first play of the game last week for 24 yards. It definitely set the pace and kept the cougs on their heels.
