Immediate Reaction :: UCLA 40, Oregon State 14

How do you lead 14-12 in the fourth quarter then get beat 40-14?

Somehow, Oregon State managed to do just that tonight.

Postgame thoughts go here.

It starts and ends with #5
Both Sean Canfield and Gerard Lawson wear the number, and both of them failed OSU today.  Canfield was a little more in control than against ASU, but he is still misreading his receivers and not putting the ball where they can make plays.

Lawson's mistakes are just unforgivable.  3 straight fumbles on KO returns is unheard of! A late hit on Serna's only decent punt.  There is no way he can be on KO returns anymore, you know every team will watch this tape and kick it to him every time.

Agreed
But the wheels fell off all the way around. I don't think it's fair to blame just a couple guys. We dominated the line of scrimmage in the first quarter, but what happened after that? It obviously wasn't just the guys in #5 that failed us tonight. Lawson does many things to help the team on Special Teams, it just didn't go his way in the fourth quarter.

I thought the first kickoff he fumbled was a coaching error. UCLA was kicking into a heavy wind, and the returners were still in normal position. If they're moved up 5-10 yards to compensate for the wind, he's in a position to field the ball cleanly.

As did the offense....
Our defense alone was winning the game for the first three quarters, but it just goes to show... you can't put all the pressure on the defense for the entire game. At some point, the wheels will fall off. And that's what happened last night.
